Q: Where do you get those clamps?

A: Those clamps are actually called "hold downs." Some styles of hold downs are available through local hardware and home center retailers. It's also possible to make your own hold downs.

Q: Why would I use this horizontally?

A: The Drill Press can be mounted in the horizontal position to be used as a holder for the rotary tool. When polishing or sanding, it is sometimes less fatiguing to control the work piece and keep the tool stationary. By mounting the tool horizontally, you can easily do that.

Q: How accurate/precise is the Drill Press?

A: A drill press is designed to drill a hole perpendicular to the surface of the material. The hole should be the same size as the drill bit you are using. For example, a 1/8" drill bit used in the Drill Press should produce a 1/8" hole. To ensure that, make sure all the factors are working in your favor. Mount the Drill Press to a workbench so it can't move when you pull the lever to drill the hole. Also, make sure you are using the correct adapter to keep the tool snug in the holder. (Tools like the MultiPro® and Digital take the small black sleeve adapter in the nose of the holder to tighten completely.) Use some type of clamp to hold what you are drilling into. To eliminate side play in the tool holder bracket, loosen the bottom nut on the depth shaft. Turn the depth shaft slightly and then retighten it. This can eliminate that side play.

Q: It seems like the Drill Press does not have complete motion in the lever. Why?

A: A couple of things could be happening. For packaging purposes, we place a small metal guard on the gear rack. Be sure to remove that. If it is not removed, your Drill Press will not have a full range of motion. The other thing that can prevent your Drill Press from having a full range of motion is if the depth shaft is adjusted up or down. If your depth shaft is locked at 1", the Drill Press will only go up and down 1". Simply loosen that and adjust it as necessary.
