Q: How often should I change my motor brushes?

A: Check the motor brushes every 50-60 hours of use. When they are 1/4" in length, brushes are considered worn and should be changed. Remember: After motor brushes are replaced, the tool should be run for 5 minutes with no load to seat the new brushes.

Q: What is the warranty on my Contour Sander?

A: Two years.

Q: Is my sander rotating or reciprocating?

A: The contour sander is in-line reciprocating. This motion gives increased control and smoother finishes.

Q: Is the sander comfortable to hold for long periods of time?

A: At less than 2 pounds, this tool is designed for hours of comfortable use with precision control.

Q: When using the coarse sanding tubes, I'm finding it harder to insert into the holder and snap the holder into place. Why?

A: The coarser the paper, the harder it will be to snap into place because the paper is thicker.

Q: The detail pad has worn considerably with very little use. Why?

A: The detail pad will wear. Part of the reason it wears has to do with sanding and debris-like sand grit and wood getting caught in the foam buffer area. One of the ways to combat this is to let the tool do the work on your sanding project. Pushing harder on the sanding pad will not create a smoother, more complete finish faster; it will wear the pad out very rapidly. With the sander moving a minimum of 4,000 strokes per minute, pushing harder should not be necessary.

Q: The contour shape I need is not one of the 18 shapes available. What can I do?

A: Contour shapes can be customized by trimming or shaping to a desired form using a Dremel® rotary tool with a drum sander.
