Art Bollinger, Restorer"A Dremel rotary tool is a must-have in my shop. It’s not just one tool—it’s many tools in one. And I need that versatility for the variety of hands-on projects I stay involved with."

All my activities relate to me using my hands. I tinker, create, modify, build and refurbish a multitude of things using my Dremel tools. The projects I’m especially proud of include:
- Restoring my Great Grandfather’s log cabin from 1850
- Constructing toy cars and wagons for my eight grandchildren
- Polishing the steering wheel and other chrome parts on my vintage T-Bird
- Building and painting a RC airplane
Actually, in my business career, we used Dremel tools to clean, polish, and remove burrs from parts on Ultrasound Diagnostic equipment. It’s pretty awesome when you can use your Dremel tool in a professional environment and for recreational projects. What a versatile tool!
Let’s face it, Dremel tools work as advertised. They are precision instruments for almost any application in my life. They fit my hands perfectly. They actually become an extension of my hand to accomplish so much in such little time. And working with Dremel tools is as fun as it gets.
Bringing an old boat back to life. Introducing my Dremel rotary tool to the process of restoring my 1964 Century 17’ Resorter was a no-brainer. The boat is one of the last series of full wood boats manufactured before the advent of plywood and fiberglass ones. There were so many obvious functions for my Dremel tool to step in and be the hero during this project, including:
- Grinding out wooden plugs in the hull to expose screws
- Cutting over 1,000 screws
- Cleaning engine parts with different brushes
- Polish all the chrome pieces
- Clean and prepare the drive train
Simply put, there is no other tool on the market that can perform the way the Dremel rotary tool performs in all of my projects. If the Dremel tool didn’t exist, I would have invented it myself. |
