Step 1

Measuring the diameter of the speaker

You need:

For best results, we recommend using surface mount subwoofers, tweeter, and mids for your project Begin by measuring the diameter of the speaker from the inside lip. Divide the measurement in half to determine the radius of your circle. The radius will be the distance from the pin on your circle cutting guide to the center of your bit. TIP: If the interior of your suitcase is lined with fabric, you will want to use a sharp-edge razor or scissors to cut away the lining from the area you cut into in step 2.

Marking at the center of the suitcase

You need:

Create a mark at the center of where you’d like to place your main speaker. Mount the 561 Multipurpose Cutting Bit into your favorite Dremel Rotary Tool (we used the 300 Series tool). Set your tool to high speed and, holding the tool perpendicular to your case, make a plunge cut into the mark. This hole will serve as your pilot hole for the Circle Cutting Guide. Next, with your Circle Cutting Guide adjusted to your desired width per your measurements in step 1, place the guide pin in the pilot hole. Set your tool to high speed and plunge rotary bit into material cutting in a clockwise motion. TIP: To assemble the cutter, unscrew the pivot foot knob and turn the picot foot over so that the center point is down. Next, remove the nosecap of the 3000 tool then thread the Guide onto the threaded portion of the tool, turning clock

Following wiring instructions

You need:

Follow your speaker’s manufacture instructions for wiring. We board out a hole at the bottom of our case to feed our power cable through. To do this, we secured the 117 HighSpeed Cutting accessory into our 3000 tool, set the tool to high and board a hole roughly the diameter of the cable.
