Create a gorgeous new table using an old window frame

With a few simple materials and Dremel tools you can upcycle a window to create a chic table.

Begin by identifying the window you'd like to convert at the size table you're creating.

Sanding down rough areas and chipping paint with the MM20

You need:

We began by first restoring the window itself. You can leave the window in it's present condition or update it as we did. We sanded down rough areas and chipping paint with our MM20 and MM70P Sandpaper.

Using the Ultra-Saw cut material to the length and width of the table

You need:

Next, you'll need to create the shadow box your window will rest on. Measure your window's length and width and using your Ultra-Saw equipped with the US500 blade, cut 1 x 4 material to the length and width of the table. Cut four pieces total.

Measure and cut the cleats to fit inside the long sides of the shadowbox

You need:

Next, measure and cut 1 x1 cleats to fit inside the long sides of the shadowbox. These will support the shadowbox bottom. Measure and cut 3/4" plywood for the bottom of the shadowbox as well.

Drilling a pilot hole with the Dremel Micro 8050 tool

Glue and secure the cleats to shadowbox sides

Next, glue and secure your cleats to shadowbox sides. Fit ends to sides. Before you drill, we recommend first drilling a pilot hole with your Dremel Micro 8050 tool and the 150 drill bit. Secure the pieces with screws. Fit the bottom plywood piece and secure.

Measure the midpoint of pieces to cut halfway through the width using the US40

You need:

Measure inside of the shadowbox and cut 3/4" plywood for the base. Measure the midpoint of pieces to cut a 3/4" slit halfway through the width. These will lock together. Use the US40 with 500 blade. We used the MM20 equipped with the 422 blade to finish the cuts. The width of the slit will determine the height of your table. We recommend starting with 3/4" and widen as necessary to get desired table height.
