Freqently Asked Questions

  • Q: How does the Dremel 4000 compare to other rotary tools?

A: The Dremel 4000 is the brand’s most powerful and most versatile rotary tool yet. It is the only Dremel rotary tool compatible with all Dremel accessories and attachments, including the MS400 MultiSaw Attachment and PL400 Planer Attachment. It features a new motor that requires less effort to complete tasks, and is the only rotary tool with an electronic feedback control to facilitate consistent power. The Dremel 4000 offers a 5 year warranty.

  • Q: Is the Dremel 4000 replacing the 400XPR?

A: Yes. The Dremel 4000 will take the place of the 400XPR as our top-of-the-line rotary tool, but with added features that reflect consumers’ most-asked-for improvements.

  • Q: What if I hear, “I already have a rotary tool, why would I need the Dremel 4000?

A: The Dremel 4000 is a great choice for existing rotary tool users who are looking for the next step up in rotary tool technology. The Dremel 4000 offers more versatility, more performance and increased control compared to other rotary tool models.

  • Q: What improvements did consumers ask for?

A: We conducted user focused groups to test different prototypes of the Dremel 4000, and users narrowed it down to this size and shape. In addition, we found that consumers wanted a good balance between power and control, a separate on/off switch from the speed dial, dials placed so as not to interfere with the grip and an automatic speed recall feature.

  • Q: Why is it named the Dremel 4000? What does the 4000 mean?

A: Previously, we’ve numbered all of our rotary tools in increments of 100. Starting with this tool, we’re shifting to increments of 1000 for our numbering system. 4000 indicates that this rotary is at the top of our rotary tool line.

  • Q: How much does the Dremel 4000 cost?

A: The Dremel 4000 is available in different kits ranging in retail from $79 to $149 USD ($99.99 to $179.99 CAD) depending on the accessories and attachments included.

  • Q: Do the new attachments (Detailer’s Grip, Sanding Grinding Guide) only work with the Dremel 4000?

A: Although you can currently only buy them in Dremel 4000 kits, they are compatible with all Dremel rotary tools with threaded nose piece.

  • Q: How does the Dremel 4000 set a new standard for performance?

A: The Dremel 4000 has a higher performance motor that achieves faster rates of cut and material removal compared to other rotary tools. The electronic feedback enables the user to maintain speed at lower speed settings for better project results.
