DIY Personalised Engraved Wooden Gift Box
- DifficultyEasy
Are you in search of a unique idea that adds a personal touch to your present? In this DIY guide, we'll show you how to create a personalised engraved wooden gift box using your Dremel Multi-Tool. Not only will this project make your gift extra special, but it's a fantastic way to unleash your creativity and experiment. Let's get started!
Spray Paint the Lid
The first step in creating your personalised wooden gift box is to paint the lid. Take your wooden box and spray paint it in matte spray paint in your desired colour. For this project, we've opted for a stunning matte yellow. Start by ensuring your wooden box is clean and free of any dust. Shake the spray paint can well and hold it approximately 15-20cm away from the lid. Then spray a light and even coat over the lid's surface. Allow it to dry for the recommended time on the paint can. If needed, apply a second coat for a more vibrant finish. Feel free to experiment with different shades to suit your personal style!
Contrasting Spray Paint
Now, let's add some contrasting colours to the outside part of your wooden gift box. To achieve this, you'll use two more spray paint colors, in our case, a striking turquoise and bold black. First, decide how you want to divide the box with colours. You can go for a classic half-and-half look or let your creativity flow. Use tape to cover the area where you don't want the turquoise paint to reach. Spray the exposed half with your chosen turquoise spray paint. Once it dries, remove the tape carefully. When finished tape off the turquoise side to protect it and spray paint the remaining half in a striking black.
Sand and Shape
Time to give your wooden gift box a unique edge! To do this, you'll need the Dremel Multi-Tool and the Sanding Band (408). Gently sand and shape the edges of your box. You can round the corners or create intricate designs; it's all up to your imagination! Take your time to ensure the edges are smooth and exactly how you desire.
Engrave Your Design
Now, it's time to make your gift box truly personalised by engraving a design on it. For this, you have to use the Diamond Wheel Point (7103). First decide on your design - it could be a ribbon, a name, a date or anything you that fits your creative concept. The 2 mm point oft he diamond wheel point allows for intricate detailing, so you can craft and experiment with elegant loops and curves. Take your time and maintain a consistent pressure to achieve a uniform look.
Final Touches and Usage
Your personalised engraved wooden gift box is almost complete! Now, all that's left is to put your thoughtful gift inside or use it as a stylish decorative element around your home. A thoughtful gift is always a wonderful surprise, and your personalised wooden gift box adds an extra layer of anticipation and excitement!
