How to make a DIY Wood Card
- DifficultyEasy
Introduction
Do you want to say something special to someone in a fun, unique and creative way? Whether you want to say thank you to your loved ones, wish them well for the holidays or just make them feel a little bit more special, making a personalised wooden card is the perfect gift for you. You don’t have to be an expert for this DIY, engraving with the Dremel Stylo+ is as easy as using an ordinary pen. Sounds fun doesn’t it?
Colour your card halfway through
Start by colouring the cardboard halfway through with the colour of your choice. If you love colourful projects feel free to use different colours to make it even more fun and personal.
Draw the design on the cardboard
Continue by drawing the pattern of your choice onto the card. In this case we have drawn a D that stands for “Dad”, but you can always get creative and design a cool and unique pattern for your card. Want a hint? Think about what represents that person to make it special.
Engrave the design
Once the drawing is done, grab your Dremel Stylo+ and using the Engraving Cutter 0,8 mm (105) and carefully start engraving along the pattern. Don’t worry if you’re not an engraving expert. The Dremel Stylo+ is so light weighted and comfortable to handle that it will feel as if you’re holding an ordinary pen.
Drill holes along the side of the card
Time to pick up the Dremel Multi-Tool 4250 and drill some holes along the side of the card. These will be used to thread the rope between them so the amount of holes you drill is up to you. Hint: adding a rope will give your card that extra stylish touch making it stand out more than an ordinary card.
Thread a rope through the holes and glue this on to the card
Thread the rope through the holes. Grab the Dremel 930 Glue Gun once its heated, then carefully glue the rope to the border of the card. Once its dried and the rope is completely glued to the card, you can cut the excess rope. This step will give the perfect finish to your DIY.
