Edge Forming Bits

Edge forming accessories are piloted bits that feature an extension on the shaft below the cutter blade, the small extension is a “pilot”, which guides the bit along the edge. The pilot rests against the bottom part of the edge and automatically limits the depth of cut. Piloted bits are used for decorative cutting of edges.

Decorative edges allow for more of a visually appealing workpiece like a picture frame or tabletop. There are multiple styles to choose from. Many edge forming bits include a pilot bearing at the top of the bit that can be used as a guide along the edge on the material in order to improve the consistency of the routed edge. Edge forming bits include the Corner Rounder and Beading router bits.
