Engraving and Carving Accessories

Engraving and Carving

Remove material and etch designs into your projects.

Carving and engraving are powerful ways to express yourself and bring your ideas to life. With Dremel, you can transform ordinary objects into extraordinary works of art. From intricate details to bold designs, our tools give you the precision and control to make your vision a reality.

There are three subcategories within the carving/engraving section. The sub-categories are organized by the depth of the material removed by the accessory. They are also visually differentiated by the shape of the accessory and its diameter.

ENGRAVING

Engraving is marking or decorating a design onto a surface by cutting grooves into it. Engraving bits are ideal for light material removal. The structure of these bits allows for a clearer line of sight due to the tapered shank leading up to the working head of the accessory.

The diameter of engraving bits ranges from 0,8mm to 2,4mm.

Engraving Shapes and Sizes

Engraving Shapes and Sizes

What you need to pay the most attention to when choosing the shape of your engraving bits is the diameter of the accessory itself and the shape, with wider diameters you will remove more materials and with smaller diameters you can take more care of the details.

Long-kind accessories are made to create straight lines.

The engraving accessories have teeth that help remove material more quickly and efficiently, the engraving accessories cannot be used on harder elements such as tile and glass.

They are intended for wood, soft metals, plastic and soft stones / shells.

CARVING

Carving creates a three-dimensional work by sculpting or removing material from a solid. These bits are ideal for more material removal, rather than just the top layers like engraving does. They’re built with a standard shank, which allows for both stability and agility in your carving projects.

The diameter of carving bits ranges from 2mm to 8mm.

Carving categories and shapes

Within the carving category Dremel has different carving accessories. These different carving categories come in many different shapes which are arrow, ball, ball nose, cylinder, disc, flame, oval and pear. Each one of these shapes will help you get a different result on the materials.
