Find the Right Tool for the Right Job

Choosing the correct Multi-Tool model and accessory for your task is essential for both performance and safety. Each model is designed with specific power, RPM range, and features to suit different applications—from precision engraving and polishing to heavy-duty cutting, grinding and even removing grout.

To get the best results, it’s important to choose the right tool with the best accessory. Adjust the speed (RPM) to the material you are working on and your workpiece will be a success.

What does RPM stands for?

RPM stands for Revolutions per Minute. It's a way to measure how fast something is rotating. For example 20.000 RPM 1/min means that the accessory rotates 20.000 times in one minute.

For polishing or working on soft materials like plastic or soft wood it's better to use a low RPM. A high RPM can damage or even burn your work piece.

Cutting or carving hard materials like metal and wood need a higher RPM. You will find on our product pages the Maximum RPM for the accessory in combination with the product.

Collet

A Dremel collet is a small, sleeve-like metal part that fits inside the tool’s collet nut and securely holds accessories with a shank (like drill bits, sanding drums, or grinding stones) ensuring a rock-solid grip so you can always work without worrying about things slipping or wobbling.

4 collets and an mandrel

Key Functions of a Dremel Collet:

• Grips the accessory shank tightly when the collet nut is tightened.

• Ensures safe, centered rotation of the accessory.

• Allows you to swap between different accessory shank sizes (0,8 / 1,6 / 2,4 / 3,2 mm) using different collet sizes.

• Prevents wobbling, slipping, and vibration.

• Essential for precision and safety during high-speed use.

Also good to know that Individual collets are compatible with Flexible Shaft attachment.

We also offer a Multi-Chuck as an alternative to collets—ideal for people who switch accessories often and want to avoid changing collets.

Mandrels

A Dremel mandrel is a small shaft or shank that connects an accessory (like a cutting wheel, sanding disc, or polishing pad) to a Dremel Mulit-Tool. It's essentially an adapter that allows accessories without a built-in shank to be mounted on the tool. It securely holds and positions everything from sanding drums to cutting wheels, giving you the control you need for the best results.
