Step18

Preparing the Wooden Plank

Wooden planks for DIY watch holder on a table.

Start by prepping the base of your DIY watch holder. Head to your local DIY store and ask them to cut a wooden plank measuring 10cm by 25cm. This will form the sturdy base of your watch holder. Make sure the edges are smooth and ready for assembly.

Step28

Cutting the Wooden Rod

Cutting a wooden piece with a saw.

Next, it’s time to cut the pieces that will hold your watches. Purchase a round wooden rod with a 35mm diameter. Using a saw, carefully cut the rod into three equal pieces, each measuring about 7cm in length. These will act as the arms of the watch holder, where you’ll place your watches.

Step38

Sanding the Wooden Pieces

Sanding the wooden pieces for the diy watch holder with a Rotary Tool.

Once the pieces are cut, it’s important to sand them for a smooth finish. Attach a sanding accessory to your Dremel 3000. Sand all three pieces of wood to remove any rough edges. This will not only make the pieces look smoother but also ensure they’re safe to handle and won’t scratch your watches.

Step48

Assembling the Watch Holder

Assembling the wooden pieces to the plank.

Now that everything is prepared, it’s time to assemble the watch holder. Use your Glue Gun and apply glue to the bottom of each of the three wooden rods, and stick them onto the wooden plank base. Space them out evenly to ensure the watches will fit comfortably. Press the pieces firmly and allow the glue to dry completely. This will give the holder its initial structure, but you’ll reinforce it in the next step.

Step58

Reinforcing the Structure

Drilling with a Rotary Tool the wooden diy watch holder.

For extra durability, we’ll reinforce the glued sections with screws. Using the Dremel 3000 with a drilling accessory, drill three holes at the bottom of the plank, directly beneath where the wooden rods are attached. Insert the screws through the holes and secure them tightly. This will ensure that the watch holder is strong enough to hold multiple watches without coming apart.

Step68

Finishing with a Wood Stain

Applying walnut stain to a crafted watch holder with a paintbrush.

To give your DIY watch holder stand a professional finish, apply a coat of walnut wood stain. Use a paintbrush to apply walnut stain to the entire watch holder. This will give the wood a rich, warm colour and protect it from wear and tear. Allow the stain to dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Step78

Adding a Personal Touch with Engraving

Engraving a wooden watch holder with a Dremel Rotary Tool.

For a unique touch, consider engraving a small design on the watch holder. Attach an engraving accessory to your Dremel 3000 and carefully engrave a design, such as a small watch symbol or your initials, onto the base of the holder or one of the wooden rods. This step adds a personal element to your project and makes it feel more custom-made.

And there you have it! A stylish and functional DIY watch holder that not only organises your watches but also adds a touch of elegance to your room. With just a few tools and materials, you’ve completed your wooden watch holder project that’s perfect for displaying your favourite timepieces. The Dremel 3000 makes the entire process easy, from sanding and drilling to adding those finishing touches with engraving!
