Remote Control Caddy
- DifficultyEasy
Introduction
Quit misplacing remote controls by turning an old cigar box into a caddy, giving you a simple place to throw them and quickly find when needed.
Step 1
First, find the cigar box you’d like to use. Then, draw a pattern onto the tracing paper, making sure to fit the dimensions of the cigar box.
Step 2
We chose to put a pattern across the bottom of the cigar box, so we drew a line with a ruler to help guide the pattern.
Step 3
Next, flip the designed paper over and color over the pattern with graphite.
Step 4
Flip the paper back over so your original drawn pattern is on top. Then, place it on the cigar box using the line you created in step 2 for guidance, and transfer the pattern to the box by tracing it with the pencil.
Step 5
Now the real fun begins! Burn the traced design into the surface of the cigar box with the Dremel VersaTip. Hint: Play around with the tool! Vary the distance of the VersaTip from the box so the burns have a range of color and depth. Switching accessories can give an assortment of looks, as well.
Step 6
Add more embellishments to the sides of the box, or personalize it with your initial using the VersaTip. Set the box on an end table next to your TV chair and you are certain to find the remote when you need it!
