Repairing an Auto Ding
Use 1000 grip sandpaper designed for wet sanding to feather the edges of the scratch, going to bare metal if necessary. When you can run your finger over the area you sanded without feeling any hint of an edge, you are ready to apply the paint. Match the original paint color by finding the car's color code on the car's information sticker and take it to an auto supply retailer or auto paint store for a small can of touch-up paint. A light touch will provide the most control when using a sanding drum.

Step By Step Instructions
Using the Flex-Shaft Attachment, clear away rust and loose paint with a 500 aluminum oxide abrasive wheel and 428 carbon steel brush. Recommended speed: 15,000 rpm.
Fill the depression by smoothing on body putty in thin, even layers.
After drying, sand away excess putty with the 407 drum sander and 408 sanding band. Feather edges to existing paint by hand with fine sandpaper. Recommended speed: 20,000 rpm.
Apply primer, overlapping into existing surface. Let dry and lightly hand sand. Apply several coats of finish paint, lightly sanding in between.
To reduce the risk of injury user must read instruction manuals for all tools used in this project. Wear eye and respiratory protection. Use clamps to support work piece whenever practical.
